Percussing are a unique and dynamic soprano and marimba duo formed by Ana Beard Fernández and Zoë Scheuregger, both graduates from the University of York. The duo bring to life the characters and narratives in pieces written especially for them. Percussing performed for the first time on 1 May 2015, at the National Centre for Early Music, York, as part of the York Spring Festival of New Music. For this concert, they commissioned seven composers from around the UK to write for them for this special occasion. The duo performed again in York in July 2015 as part of the Late Music series of lunchtime recitals.
Percussing returned to York for a second Late Music lunchtime concert series on 1 July 2017. The concert also saw the release of their debut CD, and explored themes of war, conflict, peace and resolution, and heavily featured the text of Emily Dickinson. Following the release of their debut CD, Two Worlds, Percussing performed again in Lincoln in September 2017, as part of the Lincoln International Chamber Music Festival series of lunchtime recitals.
In 2018, Percussing made their debut concert in London at the Southbank Centre on Friday 8th June as part of the Friday Tonic Series.
